Connecting the OPs – From online mastery to offline innovation in cables.gl
29.05. 19:30 KHM Aula
I organized an electrifying evening to present recent work by Stephan Maihöfer (KHM fellow in exMedia WiSe 2023/2024) and Dr. Kirell Benzi (DigiFellow programme at KHM in 2023) and celebrate their contributions to cables.gl - a free and open tool that allows people to create interactive digital artworks without having to type a single line of code.
Stephan Maihöfer was a KHM fellow in exMedia/sound in the winter semester 2023/2024. He presents his developments, which he was able to realise thanks to the fellowship: the first and decisive steps towards a standalone version of cables. This development not only represents a first significant milestone for cables, but also broadens the horizon for artists and creators, ensuring that the power of this tool will be accessible anytime, anywhere in the not too distant future.
Dr. Kirell Benzi was the distinguished participant of the Digi-Fellow Programme at the KHM in 2023, initiated and directed by Prof. Hans W. Koch and Dr. Tobias Hartmann. He will present his new platform https://decode.gl, which he created together with Eduardo Maluf de Campos. On decode.gl, he is hosting his contribution to the Digi-Fellow programme: a comprehensive series of video tutorials on how to master cables while learning the basics of JavaScript. As a bonus, he has enriched cables with an implementation of FAUST (https://faust.grame.fr)), giving participants a unique insight into the fusion of interactive visual programming and audio processing.
We are also very happy to welcome Thomas Kombüchen, who develops cables together with Stephan Maihöfer (https://undev.studio)). He will give a deep dive into the latest development of cables.gl and shed light on the future of cables as a universal tool to empower creatives.
We look forward to celebrating these milestones in digital creativity together at KHM – and have some snacks and drinks ;-)
