I Am Sitting in a Room - Resampled I & II are digital versions of Alvin Lucier's piece I Am Sitting in a Room. They feature the Elektron Octatrack Mk 1 resampling itself internally for one hour in two different setups. Headphones recommended.

Technical Details

The initial sample is the first sentence spoken by Alvin Lucier in the original piece. In I Am Sitting in a Room - Resampled I, this sample is played back by an audio track on the Octatrack and simultaneously recorded internally by a second track. This recording is then played back by the second track and recorded again by the recorder on the first track. This process is repeated for a duration of 60 minutes. The initial sample was recorded with the Octatrack at 44.1 kHz 24 bit stereo from an external line level source. Internal resampling at 44.1 kHz 24 bit stereo, no time stretching applied, no filtering, no signal processing. Initial sample starts and ends at zero crossover. Recorded from the Octatrack's main outputs at 48 kHz 24 bit stereo. The video was created using ffmpeg and shows the vectorscope, spectrogram and waveform of the recording.

In I Am Sitting in a Room - Resampled II, the initial sample is played by an audio track on the Octatrack and sent to the analogue output. The input that captures this signal is then simultaneously recorded by a second track. This recording is then played back by the second track and captured by the first track's recorder in the same way. This process is repeated for 30 minutes. The initial sample was recorded with the Octatrack at 44.1kHz 24bit stereo from an external line level source. External resampling at 44.1 kHz 24 bit stereo, no time stretching applied, no filtering, no signal processing. Initial sample starts and ends at zero crossover. Recorded from the Octatrack's main outputs at 48 kHz 24 bit stereo. The video was created using ffmpeg and shows the vectorscope, spectrogram and waveform of the recording.
